Position Summary:

The Marketing Manager – Marzano Resources develops and executes marketing plans based on market research, monitors spend and marketing effectiveness. Manages campaigns from brief to execution leveraging the marketing team and defined project management processes. Monitors conversion rates, return on ad spend and sales pipeline; collaborates and gains buy-in with internal and external stakeholders to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with business objectives. Delivers revenue based on plan. Responsible for managing our Marzano products and services, including but not limited to Professional Development and EdTech.

Primary Duties:

  • Gathers data, solicits input from stakeholders, and creates strategy and campaign plans that define target audience; number, format, and timing of marketing communications; target outcomes, critical benchmarks, and planned interventions; list segmentation; and budget impact
  • Develops and proactively shares guiding tools and documents that describe the strategy and campaigns to align efforts internally and externally
  • Provides leadership on the execution and delivery of marketing communications (design, copy, lists) to ensure they are timely, strategic, and effective, including guidance and review of sell sheets, brochures, catalogs, ads, website, email, related webinars, and other support collateral
  • Obtain and preserve product knowledge
  • Purchases relevant media (ads, lists, etc.) needed to support campaigns, while staying within budgets
  • Uses production scheduling software to monitor and support execution of marketing
  • Follows up on project action items, and communicates with key stakeholders; facilitates weekly call ins and quarterly business reviews
  • Analyzes tracking and sales data on an ongoing basis; reports regularly on return on ad spend results to the marketing team and stakeholders; adjusts campaigns as needed to ensure anticipated results 
  • Monitors campaign expenses against the budget and communicates discrepancies to stakeholders
  • Tracks and codes related invoices as necessary
  • Collects data and feedback on completed campaigns to aid future planning and budgeting
  • Manage collateral material on inventory system
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Communicates budget, campaign status and needs with Director of Marketing
  • Communicates campaign needs and project specifications with marketing communications team
  • Communicates campaign plans to and invites input and feedback from department leaders
  • Communicate with members of the sales team to plan and execute campaigns targeted to initiatives for the state, region and/or district levels
  • Communicates campaign plans to authors and presenters, gathers information to support the campaign, and identifies ways to help authors and presenters self-promote as needed
  • Secures appropriate vendor services as needed, and serves as point person for those vendors
  • Patience, flexibility, and resourcefulness in communicating and resolving issues with others

  • Tracks and monitors spending on advertising in relation to the budget
  • Works with Director of Marketing to inform general departmental priorities during annual budgeting
  • Secures resources to execute strategic plans within the budgets and timelines dictated by production needs, company standards, and revenue goals
  • Anticipates and responds to struggling sales with specific plans executed in a timely manner
  • Proactively creates systems to organize information and workflow to execute campaigns
  • Demonstrates leadership in forging strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Takes initiative to analyze and present data to others to build support and demonstrate results
  • Demonstrates willingness to revise and improve marketing plans

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA required; degree in marketing or business preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in a marketing position 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Superior communication, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to learn and use project management software
  • Ability to travel occasionally (including overnights) is required for attending events and quarterly departmental meetings, as well as the corporate retreat (which usually takes place in January each year).

This position operates remotely.

Physical Demands:

Must possess excellent written, verbal, and auditory communication skills.  Occasional light lifting required.

Travel:

Multiday and overnight travel is required for Marzano Resources' company-wide corporate retreat (which typically takes place each year in January), as well as for attending events and quarterly departmental meetings throughout the year.

Position Type:

This is a full-time remote position. Days and hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.  Occasional evening and weekend work as job duties dictate.  Some travel (including overnights) is required for attending events and quarterly departmental meetings, as well as the corporate retreat (which usually takes place in January each year).
